This is a little poem/skit I wrote for one of the firesides!!! We talked about the things one would need for a jungle safari and related them to gospel principles. Enjoy!
"Twas the first night on a jungle safari and all through the trees- all the animals were snoring- even the 1st year MONKEYS.
The SAFARI GUIDES were scrambling checking the list; making sure all the supplies were ready to make camp full of bliss.
The CHECKLIST for your safari is simple, yet precise; matching temporal objects to those that reflect in CHRIST.
A COMPASS gives direction and guides you on your way. The SCRIPTURES give us guidance to make it through the day.
Don't forget your BOOTS- you'll need to protect your feet. The gospel is your sure FOUNDATION which no evil can ever beat.
Everyday put your CLOTHES on real quick- the jungle has yucky bugs that can make you sick. Remember to always wear your ARMOR of GOD to keep you safe from Satan the whole day long.
Thirst will come upon you- keep your CANTEEN full, drink the WATER so your body doesn't get sore. Christ promises us to LEARN of him and thirst no more.
You need to know where you're going- so pull out your MAP. You have a destination to find, so quick, go in a snap. The PLAN of SALVATION maps out your heavenly way- it lays out your beginning all the way to today.
It's time to take a break and eat a quick SNACK. Your body needs fuel so you can't slack. The WORD of WISDOM keeps your body clean. It tells you to eat your veggies, especially ones that are green.
Oh that sun is glorious- but my it is so bright. Put on your SUNGLASSES to shade your eyes from the light. Be mindful of what your WATCH and READ; Satan uses MEDIA to fill your brain with stuff you do not need.
CHAPSTICK is your friend. Chapped lips are no fun. Speak no evil and try to always GUARD your TONGUE.
Keep track of the time with your trusty CLOCK. You don't want to be left outside when the door clicks "lock." Be mindful and PREPARED, the hour is at hand. Christ will come again, and before us HE will stand.
Scrapes and cuts will happen. Bumps and bruises will appear. BAND-AIDS make the boo boo better, so you don't have to shed a tear. The ATONEMENT is your first-aid. It makes the aches and pains go away. Say, "sorry" for wrong doings and promise not to stray.
Now the checklist is complete, you have it packed up tight. So off to bed you go, to have a great FIRST NIGHT!"
