Stinkin' 2011... why oh why did you have to come? Why do we set goals? Why oh why did you have to come? Okay, I will stop my ranting and move on with the blog.
We had a fun New Years Eve. Nick and I took the kids to the zoo! Yes, the zoo, in December, in the Northwest. Not many other places are open everyday except Christmas in any weather, but the zoo is and that is where we went. We left the house bright and early. The sun was shining, but it was so far from warm. In fact, it was well below freezing! 22 degrees when we left our house and 45 minutes later at the zoo, it was 24!
Call us crazy, but we had the whole place to ourselves. Even the staff thought it was strange that we were there so early in the cold. I could actually let me kids run ahead without having to worry about some psycho taking them. They could up close and personal with the animals! Well, more like the glass. With it being so early and so cold, most of the animals were non-exsistent. We did however see the polar bears eating the breakfast, made friends with the cute penguins, smell the stinky bats, and all the animals indoors! ie alligators, frogs and a few monkeys. The downside: Predators of the Serengeti. Our brand new exhibit, and we only saw the ugly hyenas. Oh well, we had free passes and so it was a free morning in the fresh brisk air!
True Oregonians, I guess one could say. Our kids were bundled, Lucy was wrapped in blankets, and we were together. Couldn't get much better than that!
After the zoo, we headed to lunch. As noted in a back to school post, I love going to lunch. I am so thankful that we were able to do this with our kids one last time before they headed back to school. We went to a buffet place (kids love it) and I was excited because they had this amazing chicken pasta salad! YUMMO and Cherry coke on tap! My favorite and since one of my goals is to slowy take myself off the juice, I was in heaven one last time!
After lunch we headed to grandmas house for a celebration. The kids played with the cousins, and I went to 7-11! Had to get one last one in, even though I knew I didn't need it. I didn't finish it, but it was the thought that counted. Came home by ten, put the kids to bed, and snuggled with my hubby!
So, what are your plans for the New Year?! We have the Warrior Dash in Sept. that we are getting our butts in gear for! Our 10 year adventure in Vegas this spring, spending more time outside with the family, going on more outings with the six of us, sticking to a budget! (I can never seem to master this one) I am a spender!!!!! It will be a banner year!
