It was the First Day of School.

Like the night before Christmas, the kids were really hyper. Mostly, because we had a great last day of summer, filled with a lunch outing, a little shopping, and stopping by to get a treat, and the other reason... FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL. Yes, the whole house was excited, so excited, I found myself a little sad, and even considered buying a puppy. We stopped and looked at baby hound puppies, and this little gal was too cute all snuggled up in my neck, not all crazy like most puppies. Truth be told, and I don't even know if Nick reads this blog, but if I would've either had the checkbook, or $200 in cash, we probably would've walked home with a new member to our family. Today, now that that the newness of the first day of school has come and gone, so has that feeling. Man am I glad I never have cash!*!*
So, the day went and it was great. No troubles waking up Emmah, who has the habit of being grumpy if woken before 9 am. She hopped out of bed, took her shower, got dressed, and even smiled and kissed me good-bye. Funny, Dasher said he was nervous, but not Emmah. She is too much like me. She wants to get out there, make friends, and have a good time. Hopefully, this personality will stick with her, she is such a delight, and a fun person to be around. Of course, she has her moments, but so do I!
After the bus took my children to school, I still had two others, nestled in their beds. I had to wake them so they could go to my friends house for a few hours. My friend and I, started a swap. First Tuesday of the month, Bosston and Lucy go to play with Mark. Third Tuesday of the month, Mark comes to play with us. She offered to take Lucy, I was just going to send Bosston, but she wanted me to be able to have all the time to myself. I cleaned, grocery shopped, and caught up on blogs. I love my blogs, and sometimes they go unread, or unposted. It was heavenly. I found myself checking the clock toward the end of the time, because I was bored. Holy cow, did I just type that? I was bored?! Weird, so does not happen often, especially in an empty, clean house!:)
2:30 time to get the kids, and by 2:50, the bus was finally dropping them off. First day always take longer, I should've remembered. No more quiet house, chattering and tales of the day took place. Sounds like they loved it!!
Soccer practice in the rain and mud. LOVE IT. We had such a great time, and the night was topped off with Back to School Dinner. The kids' favorite: homemade fried chicken, mashed potatoes, with homemade gravy from the drippings, (none of that packet stuff for us) and corn!!! Yummo!
My allergies were on fire, and Nick had a sore throat. He better get to feeling better, because tomorrow is my birthday, and we have plans all weekend long! Or really, I have plans, he just gets to join me on Saturday night:) So, with us feeling all tuckered out, kids in bed at 8pm, Nick 9pm and for some reason, I stayed up watching GLEE (which whatever, I can take or leave that show) so I turned it off, and hopped into bed at 9:45. Now, here's to another productive, and successful day.

p.s. my allergies were because I recently discovered I am allergic to waking up at 5:35 am!!! and Sundays, I always sneeze like crazy on Sunday.
p.p.s. I took pictures yesterday of Dasher and Emmah in their gear, but I used Nick's camera, so wish me luck on uploading, and I will post them!!!!

Happy Reading

YAY!!! I love this blog! So glad the kiddos had a great first day....I love to hear fun first day of school stories! I am sad however that you are not a Gleek...I think you kinda have to start from the beginning to "really take it in" and you gotta take the good episodes with the bad episodes. Needless to say, Patrick and I are HOOKED!!!lol..Just wanted to say that I loved spending time with you guys this weekend camping. SO FUN and look forward to more campouts and special occasions in the future!

Dude I agree with Paige, you gotta be a Gleek!! I LOVE that show, but are you shocked?? :) Emmah's haircut is soooo cute and Dash looks so handsome. I love that she is a social butterfly like her mama. Makes me miss the first day of school! Seeing you bounding down the hallway toward me always made my day. Love you guys and have a wonderful school year and soccer season! Oh and HAPPY BIRTHDAY EVE! :)
