No more tests for now
Thank you to all who have been keeping our Emmah and family in your thoughts and prayers. We had her EEG yesterday, and now we just wait for the results and neurologist to call. It was a very stressful day and night. We had to keep her up extra late and get her up extra early. You would think most kids would love to stay up past their bedtimes, not Emmah. She was crying and begging to go to bed. She broke our hearts with her tears. Then the next morning, she cried all the way to the hospital because she was tired, but she did great through the tests. The crazy thing was when we got home, she didn't want a nap. I did, but she just played. Well, until next time, Thanks again.

Family Vacation
My three all ready to go have some fun
Don't you love how this says no trespassing, but here we are.
Bosston was asleep, but this picture would make such a cute Christmas card.
We spent this last week with Nick's family in Lincoln City. This vacation could not have come at a better time, for I was so in the need of some time off. We rented this amazing beach house where the kids could run and play and the parents could just relax. The weather was awesome for October too. It only rained one day, Monday, and the rest of the week was filled with blue skies, and at least 55 degrees. Fabulous!! We played a lot, and ate some really good food. We bought our first kite. We had been wanting to get one for a really long time, so we finally broke down and got one. The cool thing about this one is you don't have to reset it up everytime. It just folds flat and when you are ready to use it, it just pops open. Well worth the few extra dollars we had to pay for it. Nick was able to fly it a couple of times, and the beach was so peaceful, I can see why people own beachfront property. If only we could all afford it.
We had a Halloween party for the kids. Bosston was a skeleton, Emmah was Sharpay from HSM, and Dasher was a Raving Rabbit from his video game. I was impressed with his creativity and cleverness to come up with a costume that didn't cost a lot of money. I am not a huge fan of Halloween, and I can for sure find better things to do with money than spend on costumes. Anyway, just me. We also went to the "outlet" malls but I don't think they are outlet prices. I think it is just a giant strip mall with select things on sale. None the less, we had fun window shopping. It was a fun week, and I can't wait for Nick to take some more time off. I wish all dads had the luxury of working from home, but for us, he has to go to work.
Here are some pics of the week. I am not always good about remembering my camera, but I did take some pictures. Enjoy!!!!!

A worried Mom
Tomorrow, Emmah goes in for her MRI. My heart tells me everything is going to be fine, where my head keeps filling up with doubts. I am not usually a "worry wart," but when it concerns my family, I am. I lost it yesterday. I was on the phone with my sister, and noticed that Bosston put something in his mouth. Fortunately, since he doesn't usually do this, as soon as I squeezed his cheeks, he spit out a penny. I hung up the phone, and just cried. I cried for 30 minutes right there on my kitchen floor. My poor kids thought I had lost it, and for a short time, they were right. As moms we are all entitled to "lose it" at one point or another. It has been a really long week, and to top things off, I am supposed to be getting my family ready for vacation next week. I am really anxious for that to start, so once tomorrow morning is over and we are in the clear, things will start to look up, I just know it. Thanks for listening.

A Scare for our Family
Mondays are usually no fun for anyone. Back to normal life. No more sleeping in, late breakfasts, or lazy days. It is back to work for dad and back to school for Dasher. Well, yesterday, Emmah had her own plans for Monday.
She came into bed with me, once Nick left for work. No big deal, only an hour or so before I get up anyway. About 6:30 am when I was contemplating about getting up, I felt the bed start shaking. I sit up quickly, only to see my four year old daughter having a seizure. I yell for Dasher to bring me the phone. He runs into my room, throws me the phone and turns on the light. There she is, arched almost completely backwards, eyes bigger than quarters, completely dilated and glassed over. Her skin was whiter than white, and she was foaming at the mouth. She was not responsive to me, or to the light or anything. I quickly dial 911, (something I hope to never do again) and describe to the operator what is going on. I had never seen anyone have a seizure, but I knew what not to do. You don't try and move them, put things in their mouth, or try to shake them out of it. You sit there with them, keep them safe, and talk to them. That is just what I did. Luckily with her being on our bed, I knew she couldn't hurt herself, so I watched her shake for a long 45 seconds. Once, they shaking stopped, the operator asked me to describe her coloring, eyes, breathing, and temperature. I couldn't get her to open her eyes, her coloring was still not normal and there was no fever or cold sweats.
The paramedics got there, and our brave Dasher unlocked the door, and showed them where to come. They quickly hooked her up to oxygen and checked all of her vitals. They even checked her blood sugar to make sure that is wasn't a diabetic seizure. Nick's family has a history of diabetes. They got her stabilized, but she was still nonresponsive. They decided to take her via ambulance to the ER. That is when I started to panic. Nick works 45 min away, who do I get to watch Dash and Bosston? A member of our ward happened to be driving by, saw the ambulance and immediately turned around and came inside to find Emmah being carried out by the paramedic. She stayed with our kids until Nick's sister got there.
The drive to the hospital seemed like an eternity. Emmah still was nonresponsive. No eye movement and just did not want to wake up. Finally, when we were almost to the hospital, she responded to my voice and opened her eyes for a quick second. That was a good sign. We got to the hospital with daddy waiting for us. He was able to get a hold a bishopric member to come and help give her a blessing. They monitored her for awhile, did some blood work, and sent us on our way. (3hours later) We were given a medicine if it is to happen again, and she is due for some tests. She has an EEG scheduled, and at this time I waiting for MRI to call me back to schedule that. We don't know why this happened, and hope it never happens again. She is back to her normal self and remembers nothing about what happened yesterday morning.
I was scared, but I must admit, I handled myself very well, and did not panic. I am thankful that she is fine, and since it only lasted 45 seconds, there is no permanent damage done. Please keep Emmah and our family in our thoughts and prayers, and I will keep all updated as we learn more. Thank you

So this is what happens......
So, today while I was making lunch, Emmah and Bosston had some fun of their own. I noticed that Bosston had taken the bag of pancake mix into the family room, I just didn't really think anything of it. I know, go ahead and have a good laugh in my expense. Anyway, when I heard some giggling, I went into the family room to find this. A huge pile of mix on the carpet and both children covered in the powedery mix. I didn't get mad, I just laughed right along with them. It all vaccuums up in the end right? Bosston saw that I was taking pictures, and gladly posed with his new "Cheesey" face. Honestly, how can you get mad at this face. Needless to say, I learned my lesson, and our 16 month old is no longer allowed to grocery shop from the cupboards. Joke is on me.

He Shoots He Scores
So, Dasher had another soccer game this weekend, and this time it fell on his birthday. With Nick coaching, I have a hard time being able to take pictures, because of Bosston. So, the pictures that I do post, are usually not going to be the best. Dasher, however scored six, yes, I said six goals. One goal for every year of his life. We are super proud of him. His coach said that he scored back to back on his side within two minutes. AMAZING.
Even though it rained for a good majority of the game, we had a good time, and most importantly, Dasher had a great birthday. After the game, we took him out for birthday lunch, and as most little guys, he chose Burger King. I didn't mind so much, gladly take BK over McDonalds' anyday. Then we came home and watched the rest of conference. It was a good day. Until next year, we are birthday free in our house until February. What a year~!!~

Happy Birthday Dasher Paul
It is crazy to think that six years has gone by already. I can not believe that I am old enough to have a six year old. Next is baptism, then passing the sacrament, then sending him off on a mission. Where has the time gone. He is such an amazing kid.
Today, I asked him, "Well, Dash, you are six now, do you feel any different?" He responded, "Yeah!?" How funny. I chuckled.
I look back on the six years, and wow, have things changed. I remember holding that sweet tiny baby, giving baths, and of course you remember the scary moments too. Dashers' first Thanksgiving was spent in the hospital with RSV and bronchitis. The saddest time was when he had cried so much, he lost his tiny little voice, and to see the IV in his head, was so not fun.
But here we are six years later. Only one set of stitches so far, no broken bones, and has lost one tooth. What a grown up. He is a great big brother, and a wonderful son. We love him so much.
His birthday is today, but with conference and such, it was easier to have everyone out last night for a "Build your favorite Pizza" party. This is a lot of fun. We had some yummy toppings and not a crumb of pizza leftover. Then we opened presents, and had cake. Some of us had pie. We visited and then kicked everyone out. It was a great night. Thanks to everyone who came. Here's to our son, and another great year ahead. We love you.

Yeah for me!
I finally took a few minutes and updated the blog. It really didn't take much, since I only had one post. Anyway, we went to the pumpkin patch with Mark and his family and Paige and Patrick. It was a lot of fun, and a really nice day. I am glad that we went. We all had so much fun, and this just might be the new pumpkin patch to be at. No traffic, and a lot of fun stuff to do. The weather was great too, which always helps. Here's to future blogging.
